Radiation Therapist Travel/Contract Job - West Virginia

Job Details

  • Location: Beckley, West Virginia
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Monday to Friday, 4x10 hour day shifts (6:45 AM - 5:15 PM or 6:45 AM - 3:15 PM)
  • Hours per Week: 40 hours guaranteed
  • Setting: Adult outpatient
  • Daily Caseload: 20-35 patients per day
  • Start Date: Orientation every other Thursday for RNs, Monday for allied health

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Radiation Therapist license in West Virginia
  • Minimum 1 year of Radiation Therapist experience within the last year
  • BLS (AHA only, no pending or onsite completion allowed)
  • ARRT Radiation Therapist (R) (T) certification
  • Experience with CBCT/kV/mV imaging
  • Experience with IMRT (Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy)
  • Experience with prophylactic treatments

Submission Requirements

  • Candidate must live greater than 100 miles from the facility
  • Permanent employees cannot return as travelers for 3 years after last permanent date worked
  • Clean license required; no prior suspensions allowed (probations reviewed case-by-case)
  • Flu vaccine mandatory unless medically exempt with documentation from allergist or physician
  • Fit test required in advance using approved masks; candidate may need to travel up to 100 miles for fit testing
  • Submission packet must include:
    • Cover page and candidate profile (work history)
    • Specialty-specific skills checklist
    • Minimum 2 manager/charge nurse references (preferably within past 2 years)
    • License verification (NURSYS pulled within 2 days of submission)
    • Copy of driver’s license and social security card
    • Requested time off stated in submission

Documentation & Compliance

  • Background Checks:
    • 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start
    • Includes SSN trace, county, sex offender, national, and international searches if applicable
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks updated annually (completed independently)
  • Health Requirements:
    • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD/DO/NP/PA, confirming good health and no limitations
    • Annual fit testing for approved N95 masks (3M N95 1860 Small/Regular, Aura 9205)
    • Negative TB test within 3 months of start (2-step skin test or preferred QGold/TSpot)
    • Required vaccinations or proof of immunity: Tdap, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B
    • Seasonal flu vaccination required with medical or religious exemption process; no declinations accepted
    • COVID-19 vaccination not mandatory; proof of vaccination or signed declination accepted
    • Drug screen within 30 days of start, including standard panel (amphetamines, barbiturates, cocaine, opiates, etc.)
  • Competency & Testing:
    • Annual skills checklist for specialty required
    • Color blindness test required prior to start
    • Medication/pharmacology competency exam required for nursing (not applicable here)
  • Orientation:
    • Two-day orientation (Thursday and Friday) including Cerner Infusion Management
    • Inservice training modules with pass/fail testing required prior to start (approx. 4 hours)
  • Facility Policies:
    • Dress code, blood administration policy, time and attendance, medical release, and vaccination exemption forms must be reviewed and signed
    • WV State Liability and Time Gap forms required before privileges granted

References

  • At least 1 reference required from a manager, supervisor, or charge nurse from a facility worked within 1 year of start
  • Charge nurse references must confirm direct supervision

This position is ideal for Radiation Therapists with at least 1 year of experience who are willing to travel and meet strict licensure, certification, and health compliance requirements. First-time travelers are accepted, but candidates must live more than 100 miles from the facility and comply with all submission and documentation protocols.
