Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg

• Lewiston, Maine

Contract Length

• 4 weeks

Unit & Patient Population

• Med-Surg/Telemetry unit with 37 beds
• Patient ratio: 1:5
• Surgical population with high patient turnover
• Common diagnoses: diabetes mellitus (DM), pneumonia (PNA), trauma, general surgery, bariatrics, plastics, urology

Shift & Hours

• Night shift: approximately 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
• 36 hours per week guaranteed
• Every other weekend required
• No call requirements

Required Certifications

• BLS or BCLS (required)
• ACLS (preferred)

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience in Med-Surg/Telemetry
• Experience with telemetry and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias required
• Surgical nursing experience required
• Bariatric experience preferred

Job Responsibilities & Skills

• Float required to all inpatient units
• Management of telemetry patients and dysrhythmias
• Medical management of complex diagnoses including surgical and bariatric patients
• Ability to work with specialty equipment such as bariatric beds, wound vacs, prevena vacs, and Baxter IV pumps
• Collaboration with Ultrasound IV Team available during daytime hours for IV assistance

Technology & Documentation

• Electronic Health Records (EHR): Omnicell, Cerner

• Dress code: Navy blue scrubs
• Facility is a Level III Trauma center with 24/7 Emergency Care
• Located in a city with access to outdoor recreational activities and cultural amenities

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Maine
• Minimum 2 years of Med Surg experience
• Med Surg experience within the last year
• BLS or BCLS certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
