Occupational Therapist (OT) - Nebraska, Kimball
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Provide occupational therapy services to patients of all ages, including pediatrics, geriatrics, and local athletes.
- Evaluate, plan, and implement individualized treatment programs to restore function, increase independence, and improve quality of life.
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, families, and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.
- Provide clinical supervision to Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and student interns as applicable.
Work Setting
- Inpatient, swing bed, outpatient, and local athletics.
- Majority of caseload is outpatient.
- Exposure to patients requiring post-operative care and joint replacement therapy (training provided if needed).
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients and develop individualized occupational therapy treatment plans.
- Administer therapeutic exercises, manual techniques, and physical agents.
- Instruct, motivate, and educate patients and families on treatment plans and goals.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
- Document evaluations, treatments, and progress thoroughly and timely.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members.
- Supervise COTAs clinically and support student interns.
- Maintain therapy equipment and ensure a safe, clean treatment environment.
- Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and performance improvement activities.
- Adhere to safety, compliance, HIPAA, and regulatory standards.
Schedule
- Full-time preferred, Monday through Friday.
- Typical shifts: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM or 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
- 4x10 hour shifts possible.
- 40 hours per week.
Required Qualifications
Education & Licensure
- Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
- Current and valid Occupational Therapist license in Nebraska.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification.
- Compliance with continuing education requirements.
Skills & Abilities
- Strong clinical assessment and treatment planning skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work effectively with patients of all ages.
- Ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in crisis situations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic documentation systems.
Safety & Compliance
- Competency in Standard Precautions and OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Standards.
- Use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- OSHA Category I exposure risk (potential exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues).
Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to assist patients with mobility and therapeutic activities.
- Exposure to communicable diseases and healthcare-related hazards.
- Ability to maintain regular and reliable attendance.
No prior travel experience required.
