Description
Registered Nurse (RN) – Intensive Care Unit (ICU) (Days)
Location: Grinnell, Iowa
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work primarily in ICU with occasional float to stepdown and Med Surg units.
- ICU unit details: 5 beds ICU, 3 stepdown beds; nurse-to-patient ratio typically 1:2, sometimes 1:3 during overflow.
- Patient types include ventilated patients, BiPAP, Airvo, bariatric surgery, general surgery.
- Common drips: propofol, levophed, diltiazem, insulin, heparin.
- Med Surg unit: 23 beds, nurse-to-patient ratio 1:5; patient types include bariatric surgery, ortho, general med surg; heparin drips.
- Comfortable caring for 3-5 patients.
- EMR system: EPIC.
Required Qualifications
- Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license at time of submission.
- Minimum 24 months of recent/current ICU experience (required).
- Recent/current travel nursing experience (required).
- Med Surg experience strongly encouraged.
- Skills checklist specific to ICU/Intensive Care discipline (required).
- Current certifications:
- ACLS (American Heart Association or Red Cross)
- BLS (American Heart Association or Red Cross)
- PALS (American Heart Association or Red Cross)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Competency)
- NIHSS certification preferred (can be obtained during onboarding).
- Professional reference or performance evaluation from charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, director, or equivalent within the last 24 months (preferred).
- Valid driver’s license (required).
Work Schedule & Other Details
- Shift: Days.
- Orientation start date: July 13.
- Typical hours: 36-40 hours/week; overtime billable after 40 hours.
- Overtime and holiday pay multipliers apply.
- Call back and on-call pay available.
- Charge/preceptor pay available.
Additional Notes
- Candidates will be quickly interviewed via phone call or text from a 405 area code.
- Local radius rule: 50 miles.
