Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) – NICU/Pediatrics

Location

  • Peoria, Illinois

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Position Overview

  • Inpatient pediatric speech therapy position within a Level 4 NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit)
  • Focus on assessing and providing intervention to guide feeding plans for preterm and medically complex infants
  • Care model emphasizes neuro-protective, trauma-informed, and family-centered approaches
  • Unit size: 65-bed NICU

Schedule

  • Day shift: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
  • 8-hour shifts, 40 hours per week
  • Unlikely to float to other departments; possible option to float to PIC/PICU with relevant experience

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Speech Language Pathologist license in Illinois
  • Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Speech Language Pathologist, including experience within the last year
  • Experience working with neonate and infant patients
  • Pediatric Speech Language Pathologist experience

Additional Information

  • Drug-free workplace: negative drug screen required for all panels
  • Orientation includes 12 non-billable hours
  • Dress code: scrubs or business casual
  • Documentation performed using EPIC electronic health record system

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Speech Language Pathologist
  • Ability to administer and evaluate standardized speech/language tests, conduct swallowing evaluations, develop treatment plans, and monitor patient progress

Note: Prior travel experience is not specified as a requirement for this position.
