    Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Tech

    Location: Mission Viejo, California
    Employment Type: Travel/Contract
    Contract Length: 13 weeks
    Shift: Day (4x10 hours), 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM
    Hours per Week: 40 hours
    Start Date: ASAP


    Job Description

    • Work in the Cath Lab with a focus on cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology (EP) procedures.
    • Call required 8 days per month; call shifts are 4x10 hour days.
    • Weekend work required at a minimum every other weekend, with potential for more.
    • Variable shifts scheduled as needed, not rotating.
    • May be required to float to a nearby facility within a 50-mile radius.

    Required Qualifications

    • Valid Cath Lab Technologist license in California.
    • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Cath Lab Technologist.
    • Recent Cath Lab Technologist experience within the last year.
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
    • Fluoroscopy permit.
    • ARRT certification.

    Facility & Work Environment

    • Acute Care Hospital setting.
    • Total staffed beds: 488.
    • Charting system: Epic.
    • Free parking available.
    • Scrub color: RN – Royal Blue; OR scrubs provided.
    • Floating may be required to a nearby facility.

    Background & Compliance Requirements

    • Government-issued photo ID and Social Security Card required.
    • Background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must be updated annually.
    • Education verification required.
    • Drug screening (9-panel) within 12 months of start.
    • Various state-specific background checks and attestations as applicable.
    • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
    • Immunizations and health documents required:
      • BLS, Fluoroscopy permit, CA state license.
      • TDAP vaccine within 10 years (declination accepted).
      • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months.
      • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer.
      • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination.
      • Varicella vaccination or positive titer.
      • Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted).
      • COVID vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted.
    • Respirator safety clearance required annually for travel candidates.
    • Fit mask testing required for travel candidates (not required for sterile processing or medical lab scientists).

    Certifications & Competencies

    • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification.
    • Fluoroscopy permit.
    • ACLS, PALS, NRP, CPI, NIH Stroke Certification, and other certifications as applicable (verify per clinical track).
    • Medication/pharmacology competency exams as applicable.
    • Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units.

    Additional Notes

    • Candidates must provide a passport-style badge photo with a neutral background prior to start.
    • References: Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting.
    • Employment application must include at least the last 5 years of employment with month/year format.
    • Floating policy acknowledgment required; may float to other nearby facilities.
    • Facility may call off once per two-week pay period.
    • Local radius for assignment is 50 miles.

    This position is ideal for experienced Cath Lab Technologists with strong cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology skills, who are comfortable with call and weekend requirements, and hold the necessary certifications and licenses for California.
