Description
Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract
Location: Portland, Oregon
Contract Length: 7 weeks
Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Job Details
- Work schedule includes occasional weekends as needed by the unit; no set weekend schedule but weekend work is required.
- No on-call duties.
- Holidays worked as needed.
- Patient ratios: 1:1 to 1:2 for both day and night shifts.
- Floating required within the site and across the system; refusal to float may result in contract cancellation.
- Block scheduling accommodations are determined by unit needs.
- Locals are not accepted; candidates cannot live within 50 miles of any facility in the system.
- Return to Office (RTO) restrictions: no RTO within the first week of assignment; maximum 7 days RTO allowed per assignment.
- Mandatory cancellation policy: must cancel 1.5 hours before shift start; one mandatory cancellation allowed per two-week pay period without penalty.
- Charting system used: Epic.
- Parking: Free in any unrestricted space.
- Scrub color: No t-shirts allowed instead of scrubs; any color except black or camo allowed on all units/specialties.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Oregon
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery nursing experience within the last year
- One completed travel assignment
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) certification
- Nursery experience
- Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP) experience
- Postpartum care experience
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Criminal background check with a 7-year search including SSN trace, nationwide, sex offender, county, federal, and international searches if applicable.
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start (not required annually unless expiring during assignment).
- Negative TB test (PPD, Qgold, or Tspot) within 1 year prior to start; if positive history, negative chest x-ray within 1 year required. TB questionnaire required annually.
- Immunizations or immunity documentation required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (immune titer and 3-dose vaccine series or signed declination)
- Varicella
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or signed declination (Td not accepted).
- Negative drug screen within 12 months of start.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination required annually (Oct 1 – Mar 31).
- COVID vaccine documentation or declination required.
- Respirator medical clearance required annually unless no patient interaction.
- Two professional references required (supervisory or above, within 3 years).
Additional Notes
- Travelers must complete any assigned education within one week of assignment start.
- Facility requires signing a floating acknowledgement form.
- Candidates must comply with all policies and procedures prior to start.
This position is ideal for experienced Labor & Delivery RNs with prior travel contract experience who are flexible with floating and night shifts, and who meet Oregon licensure and certification requirements.
