Description

Registered Nurse (IMC) - Travel/Contract

Location: Bel Air, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: June 1, 2026
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours


Unit & Patient Population

  • Unit Type: Intermediate Care (IMC)
  • Average Daily Census: 22 patients
  • Bed Count: 22
  • Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4
  • Patient Age Range: Adult and Geriatrics
  • Common Diagnoses: Cardiac, Respiratory, Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
  • Special Procedures/Equipment: Precedex and insulin drips, high-flow oxygen, BiPAP, chest tubes, TCAR, post-cardiac cath lab care

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
  • Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Work Schedule & Requirements

  • Every other weekend required
  • Holidays required as scheduled
  • Floating required within specialty and to lower acuity units as needed
  • On-call shifts are rare and pre-scheduled on-call shifts are not required

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background checks including 7-year criminal search, education verification, and state-specific exclusions
  • Drug screening: Negative 9 or 10 panel drug screen within 30-45 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)
  • Health documents:
    • Physical exam within 1 year
    • Fit mask test within 1 year
    • Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
    • TB screening (QGOLD, TSPOT, or 2-step PPD) updated annually
    • Flu vaccine or approved exemption required during flu season
  • References: Two professional references within 1 year, including at least one supervisor/manager
  • Employment history verification for previous 5 years
  • Facility-specific documents including confidentiality agreements, dress code review, and unit-specific job description must be signed prior to start

Additional Notes

  • Navy scrub color required
  • Candidates must complete competency exams as applicable (medication, dysrhythmia/EKG, age-specific competencies)
  • Facility orientation includes completion of required training and certifications if not already current
  • Various attestations and compliance documents must be completed timely to avoid delays in credentialing and start date
