Cardiac Cath Lab Tech

Location: Brownsville, Texas
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36


Unit Information

  • Unit: Cardiac Cath Lab
  • Number of Beds: 2 Cath Labs
  • Staff Composition: 2 monitor techs, 2 RNs, 2 techs
  • Shifts:
    • Day Shift: Manager, director, 4 techs, 2 RNs
    • Night Shift: Not regularly scheduled; callbacks only
  • Patient Ratio: 1:1
  • Equipment Used: IABP, Impella, stents, balloons, IVUS, FFR, Ultrasound
  • EMR System: Meditech

Typical Procedures

  • Heart catheterizations and interventions
  • Pacemaker and AICD placements
  • Watchman device procedures
  • Electrophysiology (EP) ablations
  • Peripheral venous and arterial procedures

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Cath Lab Technologist license in Texas
  • Minimum 1 year of Cath Lab Technologist experience within the last year
  • ACLS certification
  • BLS certification
  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) certification
  • Experience with IABP and Impella devices
  • Interventional Cath experience in peripheral and coronary procedures

Preferred Skills

  • Electrophysiology (EP) experience

Additional Information

  • Floating Areas: Interventional Radiology (IR), ICU (if competent), Pre/post PACU Cath Lab
  • Dress Code: Navy scrubs
  • Unit Policies:
    • 30-minute response time for callbacks
  • On-Call Requirements:
    • Every other weekend on call
    • Every other weeknight on call
