Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room (OR)

Location: Los Alamos, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Position in a 47-bed acute care facility serving all age groups.
• Department: Surgery (3 OR rooms, 3 PACU beds, 5 Preop beds).
• Patient ratios typically 1:1 or 1:2.
• Electronic Health Records used: CQI and Medhost.
• Weekly guaranteed hours: 36 hours.
• Weekend hours: Every other weekend or as needed.
• Call requirement: 10-11 days per month (may increase to 15-16 days if only two staff on call).
• Float to Pre-Op as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico.
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year.
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, and Healthcare Worker Certification (HWC).
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Must comply with New Mexico state fingerprinting and background check requirements; a 14-day supervised waiver period is allowed while results are pending.

Work Environment & Expectations

• Shift schedule: 5 days per week, 8-hour shifts.
• Professional demeanor required.
• Dress code: Hospital-provided scrubs; casual wear and open-toed shoes are not allowed.
• Orientation sessions held weekly on Mondays.
• Call coverage is an essential part of the role.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior travel nursing experience is a plus but not required.

Additional Notes

• Candidates must be located 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify as travel staff.
• The facility reserves the right to require additional certifications beyond those listed.
• The role involves working in a surgical environment with a focus on patient safety and quality care.
