Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room (OR)
Location: Los Alamos, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Position in a 47-bed acute care facility serving all age groups.
- Department: Surgery (3 OR rooms, 3 PACU beds, 5 Preop beds).
- Patient ratios typically 1:1 or 1:2.
- Electronic Health Records used: CQI and Medhost.
- Weekly guaranteed hours: 36 hours.
- Weekend hours: Every other weekend or as needed.
- Call requirement: 10-11 days per month (may increase to 15-16 days if only two staff on call).
- Float to Pre-Op as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico.
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year.
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, and Healthcare Worker Certification (HWC).
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Must comply with New Mexico state fingerprinting and background check requirements; a 14-day supervised waiver period is allowed while results are pending.
Work Environment & Expectations
- Shift schedule: 5 days per week, 8-hour shifts.
- Professional demeanor required.
- Dress code: Hospital-provided scrubs; casual wear and open-toed shoes are not allowed.
- Orientation sessions held weekly on Mondays.
- Call coverage is an essential part of the role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior travel nursing experience is a plus but not required.
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be located 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify as travel staff.
- The facility reserves the right to require additional certifications beyond those listed.
- The role involves working in a surgical environment with a focus on patient safety and quality care.
