Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract

Location

  • Columbus, Georgia

Contract Length

  • 8 weeks

Specialty

Patient Population

  • Infants to Geriatrics (Primarily adult patients, including pediatric intubated patients)

Work Setting

  • Level 2 trauma center
  • Interventional stroke certified
  • Level 3 NICU (regional transport resource)
  • Floating within facility and sister campus as needed
  • No call requirements
  • Every other weekend off (unless otherwise specified)
  • Expected to work major holidays depending on number falling within assignment

Shift Details

  • Night shift
  • 3 shifts per week
  • 12 hours per shift (18:30 to 7:00)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license in Georgia
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner, with experience within the last year
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS

Clinical Skills & Responsibilities

  • Manage non-invasive and conventional ventilation
  • Aerosol therapy
  • Bedside pulmonary function tests
  • Perform arterial lines and arterial blood gases
  • Oxygen management and patient education
  • Perform capillary blood gases and draws from lines

  • Epic
  • Pyxis
  • SBAR
  • Viasys Vela and Avea
  • GE Carescape

Orientation & Compliance

  • Maximum Return to Office (RTO) time: 7 days
  • Full compliance with onboarding requirements required to start on time; delays result in 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
  • Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length

Blackout Dates (Unavailable for Scheduling)

  • Night shift: June (full blackout), July 5th-31st, August 1st-2nd
  • Day shift: June (full blackout), July 15th-31st, August 1st-9th

Required Documentation & Health Compliance

  • Background check completed within 30 days prior to start (including education verification and criminal searches)
  • State license verification within 30 days prior to start
  • Education verification or diploma/transcript required
  • Physical exam within 12 months prior to start
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (with TB questionnaire updated annually)
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required or documented:
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (titer or signed declination)
    • Flu vaccine or declination (required annually during flu season)
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start
  • Color blindness test required
  • Competency exams required (medication, dysrhythmia/EKG, nursing/allied competencies)
  • Review and sign facility Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance policies prior to start

Additional Requirements

  • 2 clinical references required
  • Skills checklist updated within 12 months
  • Verification of most recent work history (can be pending at start with proof of processing)

This position is suitable for Respiratory Therapists with at least 1 year of experience, trauma experience, and required certifications, seeking a travel contract in a high-acuity trauma and NICU setting.
