Description
Interventional Radiology Tech (Travel/Contract)
Location: Charleston, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology (Interventional Radiology)
- Shift: Day shift, 4x10-hour shifts (Monday-Friday), typically 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM
- On-Call: Approximately 8 days per month including 1 weekend per month; 30-minute response time required
- Floating: Required to float to a nearby general facility for 1 week during contract
- Average Daily Census: 7-10 patients
- Work Setting: Interventional vascular radiology suite
- Procedures: Peripheral angiography/venography with intervention, EVAR, TEVAR, carotid stenting, neuro-intervention including acute stroke, embolization
- Equipment: Fluoroscopy (Siemens preferred), Ultrasound preferred, PACS
- Responsibilities:
- Equipment setup and maintenance
- Accurate patient monitoring
- EKG lead placement
- Prep access site
- Recognition of life-threatening arrhythmias
- Room circulator and scrub role maintaining sterile field
- Use of vascular closure systems (Perclose, StarClose)
- Infection Control: Strict sterile technique required
- Schedule Flexibility: Open to reasonable blocked schedule requests (to be discussed at interview)
- Travel Radius: 100-mile radius rule; exceptions require facility approval
Required Qualifications
- Valid Interventional Radiology Technologist license in West Virginia
- Minimum 1 year of experience as an Interventional Radiology Technologist, with experience within the last year
- ARRT certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
Orientation & Onboarding
- Orientation occurs every other Monday and lasts 2 days (Thursday and Friday)
- Orientation includes Cerner Infusion Management training
- 40 hours per week guaranteed
Health & Safety Requirements
- Vaccinations:
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (October 1 – March 31) unless medically exempt with documentation
- COVID-19 vaccine not required; proof of vaccination or signed declination accepted
- Tdap vaccination required (no declinations accepted; medical/religious exemptions require approval)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) and Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titers required; boosters may be needed if titers are negative or equivocal
- Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series or positive titer required; candidate can start with 2nd booster pending
- TB Testing: Negative TB test within 3 months of start required; 2-step skin test or preferred QGold/TSpot testing accepted
- Physical Exam: Must be completed within 1 year of start, signed by a licensed provider, confirming good health and no physical limitations
- Drug Screen: Must be completed within 30 days of start and updated annually; includes a comprehensive panel (amphetamines, barbiturates, cocaine, opiates, etc.)
- Fit Mask Testing: Annual fit testing required for N95 masks; accommodations available for PAPR if fit test is failed
- Other: Annual TB questionnaire required for positive TB responders
Background & Compliance
- 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start required
- Additional screenings: SSN trace, sex offender search, national and international criminal searches (if applicable)
- EPLS/SAM and HHS/OIG checks must be completed independently within 30 days of start and updated annually
- Sex offender search processed separately and updated annually
- Primary source verification of state license within 30 days of start
- Valid driver’s license and social security card required
Additional Notes
- Permanent employees cannot return as travelers for 2 years after last permanent day worked at this facility
- Scrubs: Blue surgical scrubs issued by hospital
- Charting system: Cerner
- Parking: Free for travelers
- On-call rotation includes weekdays and weekends, with every third weekend required (5-6 total weekends during contract)
This position is ideal for an Interventional Radiology Tech with at least 1 year of experience, who is comfortable with on-call duties, floating, and working in a high-acuity interventional vascular radiology environment. Candidates must meet all licensure, certification, and health requirements prior to start.
