Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse
Location: Germantown, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Day shift, Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (5x8 hours)
- Call: Willingness to take call; details discussed during interview
- Block scheduling is not guaranteed and may vary based on manager needs
- Must live at least 100 miles from the facility (no exceptions)
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Tennessee
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, with OR experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or ARC only
- NIH Stroke Certification – required for all RNs except those working at children’s hospital locations; must be renewed annually
- Other certifications may be required depending on specific unit assignments (not applicable here unless specified)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Check within 60 days of start, including statewide, county, federal searches, and education verification
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated annually
- Education verification required (diploma/transcript not accepted in lieu)
- Social Security Card and 2 forms of government-issued ID required
- Drug Test: Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start (no pending results accepted)
- Physical Exam: Must attest ability to meet physical demands, within 1 year of start
- Fit Mask Test: 3M N-95 fit test within 1 year of start, must pass without limitations
- Immunizations:
- Proof of immunity or vaccination for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer with boosters if needed)
- Hepatitis B vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Apr 30)
- TB Testing: Negative 2-step PPD, Q-Gold, or T-spot within 1 year; if positive, clear chest x-ray within 2 years plus annual TB questionnaire
- Photo for Badge: Recent (within 6 months), passport-style photo with strict guidelines (no hats, glasses, or filters)
Additional Requirements
- Must submit Return to Office (RTO) documentation at time of submission
- Two recent professional references required
- Skills checklist and internal evaluations required if employed with agency for one year or more
- Facility-specific dress code: Navy blue scrubs for RNs; no prints or embroidered scrubs allowed
Notes
- Candidates must be prepared for possible shift changes based on manager needs during interviews
- Facility does not accept any compliance documents pending at start
- Flu exemption requests require detailed documentation and may delay start date
- Onsite fit test and EPIC questionnaire may be required if applicable
This position is ideal for experienced OR Registered Nurses who meet licensure and certification requirements and are comfortable with travel assignments and flexible scheduling.
