Registered Nurse - ER (Weston, Florida)

Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse, Emergency Room (ER)
  • Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (11:00 AM – 11:30 PM)
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week for 3x12 shifts
  • Floating: May be required to float within scope as needed
  • Weekend Requirement: As needed
  • Block schedule accommodation: Not available
  • Locals accepted at same rate
  • On-call: Not required

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Florida
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Current certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Compliance & Background Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried during hours of service
  • Background check: 7-year criminal history check within 1 year of start, updated annually, including all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals
  • Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start (Livescan electronic fingerprinting accepted nationwide)
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 1 year of start (no Florida Medical Marijuana card accepted)
  • Physical exam within 6 months of start
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
  • Required immunizations or titers:
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer (exempt if born before 1957)
    • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination
    • Varicella: 2 vaccines, titer, or history of chickenpox
  • Seasonal influenza vaccination required during flu season (10/31–3/31), no declinations accepted; medical/religious exemptions allowed
  • COVID-19 vaccination series or approved medical/religious exemption required

Onboarding & Training

  • Must complete all required online training modules by due date prior to start (access provided after contract signing)
  • Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome; video content cannot be skipped
  • Pass/Fail testing on EKG and Pharmacology administered during orientation (2 attempts allowed per test)
  • Medication and competency exams required as applicable
  • HIPAA training and acknowledgment required

Additional Requirements

  • Must be nicotine-free (smoke-free facility) with negative nicotine (cotinine) test required
  • References: 2 professional references within 2 years required for travel nurses
  • Employment application and skills checklist must be completed and updated annually
  • Performance evaluation on file if worked with the agency for over 1 year

Notes

  • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront with application; late requests likely will not be approved
  • Facility issues radiation badges if applicable
  • Candidates with a break greater than 6 months between assignments at this facility may need to re-orient and complete modules again
