Ultrasound Tech/Sonographer

Location

  • Portland, Maine

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Schedule & Hours

  • Rotating day shifts including weekends
  • Overnight call 5:00 pm to 6:30 am, 2-3 nights per month (with strict guidelines and cardiologist approval)
  • Typical shift: 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM (10-hour shifts)
  • Total 40 hours per week
  • Daily workload: 7-8 echocardiograms per day

Job Description

  • Work in a busy inpatient echocardiography lab at a tertiary care hospital with a Level I trauma center
  • Provide high-quality echocardiography care in a fast-paced, critical care environment
  • Perform a wide range of echo procedures including transthoracic (TTE), stress, and transesophageal (TEE) echocardiograms
  • Utilize advanced imaging techniques such as 3D echo and strain imaging
  • Maintain strict adherence to lab standards and protocols to ensure diagnostic accuracy
  • Optimize image quality using appropriate scanning techniques, equipment settings, and ultrasound contrast agents
  • Manage high-volume workflow while maintaining superior diagnostic quality
  • Collaborate with sonographers, cardiologists, and fellows through case reviews, feedback, and educational opportunities
  • Follow ASE and IAC standards for quality and compliance

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as an Echo Technologist
  • Echo Technologist experience within the last year
  • Experience in an inpatient setting
