Description
Job Opportunity: PCU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Augusta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Patient Population & Unit Description
- Adult to Geriatric patients
- Intermediate level care: monitoring interventions no more frequent than every hour
- Medical-surgical and telemetry patients with diagnoses such as dysrhythmias, congestive heart failure (CHF), acute onset stroke (non-TPA), acute coronary syndrome, myocardial ischemia
- Fast-paced environment focused on patient throughput and patient-centered care
- All patients are on hardwire telemetry, self-monitored by the RN
- Unit census: 12 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4
- Unit systems include Epic and Pyxis
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Georgia
- Minimum 2 years of Telemetry PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Certifications:
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Work Environment & Expectations
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
- Floating within facility as needed, within scope of practice
- Weekend schedule: every other weekend
- Holiday work expectations:
- If 1 major holiday occurs during assignment, traveler expected to work it
- If 2 major holidays occur, traveler expected to work both
- If 3 major holidays occur, traveler expected to work 2 of them
- Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day
- Return to Orientation (RTO) maximum: 7 days
- Full compliance with all requirements needed to start on time; delays may result in a 2-week pushback due to orientation scheduling

- Locals accepted at the same rate
- Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
- Candidate must review and sign facility-specific Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance policies prior to start
