Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Room (ER) – Nights

Location: Marshalltown, Iowa
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Overview

• Work in a 16-bed Emergency Department unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5.
• Administer critical drips as part of patient care.
• Required to work 36-40 hours per week; overtime billable after 40 hours.
• Required to work 1-2 of 3 upcoming summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless the unit is closed.
• Orientation dates available in early June.
• Use EPIC electronic medical record system.
• Scrub colors allowed: Navy, Black, or Gray (solid tops and bottoms).

Required Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 24 months of current or recent Emergency Department (ED) experience.
• License: Active Iowa RN license or compact/multi-state license at time of submission.
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – current and active
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – current and active
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – current and active
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Competency) – current and active
• Additional:

  • Recent travel nursing experience required.
  • Skills checklist specific to Emergency Department discipline required.
  • Driver’s license required.
• Preferred Certifications:

  • De-Escalation Certificate (SAMA, MAB, MOAB, CPI) – can be obtained during onboarding.
• Nice to Have:

  • NIH Stroke Scale certificate – can be obtained during onboarding.

Work Conditions & Policies

• Employee separation policy restricts past employees of the system from working travel assignments in other markets within 12 months unless prior travel was not through full-time or PRN status.
• Call back and on-call pay available (details not included here).
• Charge/preceptor pay available (details not included here).
• Orientation includes 16 hours of onboarding.
