Description

Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry (Travel/Contract)

Location: Warrensville Heights, Ohio
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (36 hours/week)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse position on night shift.
  • Requires recent and permanent experience in Med/Surg Telemetry.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Ohio.
  • Minimum 1.5 years of Telemetry nursing experience.
  • Telemetry experience within the last year.
  • Current ACLS certification.
  • Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Required Licenses & Certifications

  • Valid Ohio RN license or a Compact RN license from a compact state, active and in hand.
  • AHA BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
  • AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification.

Work Requirements

  • Must work at least every other holiday.
  • Pass facility baseline competency exams during orientation:
    • ECG rhythm recognition test (minimum 80% passing score)
    • Medication administration exam (SafeMedicate) (minimum 90% passing score)

Background & Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment.
  • Comprehensive background check required prior to start, including:
    • FCRA compliant 7-year search
    • SSN trace, county/state/nationwide checks
    • National sex offender registry
    • Education verification
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
  • FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 48 hours of contract signing, valid within 12 months and updated annually. Fingerprints must be completed under nursing code 4723.09. Facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming ability to safely perform job functions. Latex allergy notification required if applicable.
  • Fit mask test (3M N95 1860 small/regular or 1870+) within 12 months, updated annually. PAPRs not provided for facial hair failure unless approved exemption submitted.
  • Immunization and health requirements:
    • Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per protocol
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers with boosters if needed
    • Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination accepted with agency-approved exemptions
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer with booster if needed
    • Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation required annually (no declinations accepted; exemptions require agency approval)
  • Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted).
  • Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start.

Orientation & Facility Requirements

  • Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome; video must be watched before test).
  • Modules typically take multiple days and must be completed before clearance to start.
  • Photo for badge required (headshot, shoulders up, white background).
  • Baseline competency exams (medication and ECG) completed during orientation; remediation and retake opportunities provided if needed.
  • PBDS Assessment waived.

Documentation & History

  • Employment application must include at least 3 years prior work history, with 2 years in acute care and similar clinical area.
  • Two professional references required from employment within the past year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
  • Primary source verification of state license within 30 days of start.
  • NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start.

Additional Notes

  • Candidates can start with fingerprinting results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start.
  • Candidates with a gap of less than 6 months since last assignment at this facility may be exempt from some orientation testing and module requirements.
  • Traveler must be prepared to comply with all health and safety protocols, including immunizations and drug screening.

This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs licensed in Ohio or a compact state, seeking a travel contract with night shifts in a hospital setting.
