Job Opportunity: Home Health Registered Nurse
Location: Augusta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Job Summary
- Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
- Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:7
- Work Setting: Home Health
- Required to float within facility/scope of practice as needed
- Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend
- Call Requirements: May be required (Mon-Sun, 4:30 PM – 8:00 AM) approximately every 4-6 weeks
- Holiday Work: Expected to work major holidays if they fall during assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)
- Scrub Color: Royal Blue or Black
- Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
- Minimum 1 year of Home Health nursing experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
- Experience with Homecare Homebase (HCHB) electronic documentation system
- Proven ability to work independently and stay organized in a Home Health setting
Compliance and Screening
- Full compliance with all requirements is mandatory to start on time; delays in compliance may result in a 2-week assignment pushback due to bi-weekly orientation scheduling
- Clinical screening will be conducted to determine clinical fit before final approval
- Locals are accepted at the same rate
Orientation and Training
- Number of Non-Billable Orientation (NBO) hours is proportional to contract length (e.g., 8 hours for an 8-week assignment)
Required Documentation and Health Compliance
- Valid photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Background check completed within 30 days prior to start, including:
- Perm and non-perm county criminal searches
- National sex offender registry
- Nationwide criminal search
- FACIS 3
- Education verification of related degree (can be pending at start with proof of processing)
- Education verification or official transcripts/diploma if education cannot be verified electronically
- Annual NURSYS license verification within 30 days prior to start
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start (not required by client but required by agency)
- Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) or chest x-ray within 12 months prior to start; TB questionnaire required annually
- Immunizations or proof of immunity:
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (Tdap highly recommended but not required)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination required during flu season (Nov 1 – Mar 31)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start (includes amphetamines, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, cocaine, opiates, methadone, PCP, propoxyphene, THC)
- Clear, passport-style photo with solid background for badge
- Valid proof of current automobile liability insurance (if applicable)
- Signed Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy acknowledgment prior to start
Competency Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (required by agency)
- Color blindness test (required for all candidates; alternative assessment available if needed)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (required for Telemetry and related specialties; note: 3 attempts allowed, failure results in cancellation)
- General competency exam for nursing (required by agency)
References and Work History
- Two clinical references required (agency requirement)
- Verification of most recent employer required; can be pending at start with proof of processing
This position is ideal for experienced Home Health RNs with strong clinical skills, home health documentation experience, and the ability to work independently in a community setting. Prior travel experience is not explicitly required but first-time travelers are not accepted.
