Job Opportunity: CVPICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location
- Cincinnati, Ohio
Contract Length
- 8 weeks
Shift Details
- Night shift
- 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
- Total 36 hours per week
Unit and Patient Population
- Cardiovascular Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (CVPICU)
- Float to Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) as needed
- Care for neonates, infants, children, and adult patients with cardiac disease
- Patients may be intubated and ventilated
- Exposure to inotropes, vasoactive medications, central lines, arterial lines, and peripheral IVs
- Possible exposure to Berlin Heart and Heartmate devices
- Nurse-to-patient ratio typically 1:2
- Responsibilities include transferring and admitting patients within the same shift
Required Experience and Skills
- Valid RN license in Ohio
- Minimum 1 year of CVICU experience within the last year
- Experience in CVPICU
- Experience working with pediatric patients
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS certification
- PALS certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Required Certifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Ohio
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA, ARC, or DoD accepted
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA, ARC, or DoD accepted
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA, ARC, or DoD accepted
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior travel nursing experience highly preferred
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or state ID) required and must be carried during shifts
- Social Security Card or number required
- Proof of E-Verify or attestation
- Criminal background check (7-year, FCRA compliant) required prior to start and updated annually; must include all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals/extensions
- Transcript/diploma or education verification required
- Fingerprinting completed onsite on first day
- Health Screening Form completed within 60 days prior to start and updated annually
- Senate Bill 38 Criminal Disclosure form completed prior to start
- Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands, updated annually
- Fit-tested surgical mask provided and required for patient-facing roles
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, with annual TB questionnaire
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella titers or vaccination documentation
- Hepatitis B series or positive titer (declination not accepted)
- Varicella titer or vaccination history
- Drug screening:
- 9-panel drug screen within last 12 months (instant acceptable)
- 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start including marijuana; cannot start with pending results
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (declinations not accepted)
- COVID-19 vaccination not required for this assignment
- Completion of pediatric medication competency exam with 100% pass rate required before start; failure results in cancellation
- Unit-specific competency exams and annual updates required
- Professional references: minimum 2 clinical or professional references required
- Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar specialty area
