Description
Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry
Location: Warrensville Heights, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shifts, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Job Description
- Provide nursing care on a Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit.
- Must work at least every other holiday.
- Orientation includes ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate medication administration exam; passing scores required.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum 1.5 years recent Med/Surg Telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
- Current ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license) required and must be carried on assignment.
- Background check including FCRA-compliant 7-year search, updated annually or after breaks in service of 2+ months.
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start, updated annually; must be completed prior to start.
- Primary source verification of state nursing license within 30 days of start.
- Nursys verification within 30 days of start.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming ability to safely perform job functions.
- Fit mask (N95) test within 12 months of start, updated annually.
- Immunizations/vaccinations required with official documentation:
- Tdap (every 10 years, no declinations)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (updated annually)
- MMR (2 vaccines or positive titers; boosters if titers negative/equivocal)
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; booster if needed)
- Seasonal flu vaccination (required annually; no declinations)
- Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant tests not accepted).
- Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start.
- Two professional references from within the last year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
Orientation & Training
- Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome).
- SafeMedicate and ECG competency exams during orientation.
- Modules and onboarding typically take multiple days; must be completed before clearance to start.
- Photo for badge required (headshot, shoulders up, white background).
Additional Notes
- PBDS Assessment waived.
- Candidates must be prepared to complete all required documentation and certifications prior to or at orientation.
- Candidates with gaps longer than 6 months since last assignment at this facility may need to retake certain exams and complete modules again.
- Facility accommodates latex allergies with notification.
- Religious and medical exemptions for vaccines and fit mask are accepted but require agency approval and facility review.
This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs licensed in Ohio or compact states, seeking a 13-week travel contract with day shifts in a hospital setting.
