Job Opportunity: CVICU Registered Nurse
Location: Vero Beach, Florida
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Specialty: Registered Nurse in Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
- Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:45 - 7:15)
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Facility Type: Short Term Acute Care, Teaching hospital
- Total Staffed Beds: 332
- Charting System: Epic (experience required at level 3 or 4)
- Scrub Color: White
- Parking: Free in unrestricted spaces
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Florida with primary source verification within 30 days of start
- Minimum 1.5 years of CVICU experience, with CVICU experience within the last year
- ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience required
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience with Epic electronic charting system
- Current BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Ability to float within scope to three nearby hospitals (within 20 miles)
- First-time travel nurses accepted
- Locals accepted at same rate
- Pending licenses not accepted
Required Certifications
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) administered during orientation (2 attempts allowed per test)
Licensure & Verification
- NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start
- Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried during hours of service
- Background checks: 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start (Livescan accepted nationwide)
- Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 1 year of start (no Florida Medical Marijuana card accepted)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 6 months of start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (annual updates required)
- Immunizations or titers required for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Seasonal Influenza vaccine required during flu season (10/31-3/31); medical/religious exemptions allowed with approved documentation
- COVID-19 vaccination series or approved medical/religious exemption required
Additional Requirements & Notes
- Smoke-free facility: all travelers must be nicotine-free; negative nicotine test required
- All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront with application; late RTO requests likely denied
- Online onboarding modules must be completed by due date prior to start; modules require use of Google Chrome on a computer and cannot be completed on a phone
- Candidates must prioritize time-sensitive Epic modules immediately upon assignment confirmation
- Two professional references required within 2 years of start date
- Employment application and skills checklist (updated annually) required
- Performance evaluation required if candidate has worked with the agency for over 1 year
Orientation & Onboarding
- Start date aligned with next applicable orientation date (3-4 weeks out)
- Orientation includes pass/fail testing for EKG and medication/pharmacology
- Facility issues radiation badges if applicable
