Description

Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical

Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (18:45 – 07:15), 3 shifts per week, 12 hours per shift
Patient Ratio: 1:6
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Call Requirement: None
Float Requirement: Yes
Scheduling Type: Self-scheduled
Unit Orientation: 24 hours
Scrubs: Navy blue or white


Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of Med Surg experience, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • BLS certification
  • NIHSS certification
  • Management of dysrhythmias
  • Use of Rapid Response and Code teams
  • Pre/Post hemodialysis management
  • Blood product administration
  • Central line blood draws
  • Phlebotomy
  • PCA management
  • Chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac)
  • BiPAP/CPAP management and maintenance
  • High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
  • Non-invasive airway management

  • Med/Surg and Med/Surg Telemetry
  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Telemetry remote monitoring
  • Use of Rapid Response and Code teams
  • Bowel obstruction care
  • Colostomy/ileostomy management
  • Feeding tube care and management
  • Pre/Post hemodialysis management
  • Renal failure care
  • Blood product administration
  • Central line blood draws and peripheral line care/management
  • Phlebotomy and PICC line management
  • Starting and maintaining IVs, including heparin and insulin administration
  • PCA management
  • Chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac)
  • BiPAP/CPAP management and maintenance
  • High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) and nasal cannula oxygen delivery
  • Non-invasive airway management and oral suctioning
  • Oxygen administration and oxygen tank management
  • Isolation precautions and PPE use
  • Wound care including Wound Vac
