Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Float Nurse
Location: Anderson, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 18:45 - 7:15)
Patient Ratio: 1:6
Job Description
- Work on a Medical Surgical unit with float responsibilities to other Medical Surgical units as needed.
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend.
- Locals accepted.
- First-time travel nurses accepted.
- Block scheduling is not accommodated.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in South Carolina.
- Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience.
- Medical Surgical experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID must be carried during hours of service.
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and international background check if applicable.
- Transcript or diploma may be required for certain roles.
- Color blindness test (Ishihara) required.
- Physical exam within 1 year confirming good health.
- Annual fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) required.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes.
- Immunizations or titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start date.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 1). Unvaccinated candidates must wear masks onsite.
- Photo for badge required (no visible nose piercings in photo).
- Completion of facility-specific online orientation and acknowledgment.
- Stroke education and acknowledgment required if working at the facility for one year or longer.
- Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations.
- Performance evaluation or 2 professional references required if previously worked at the facility for over 1 year.
- Complete employment application/resume required.
Additional Notes
- Must submit all Return to Office (RTO) requests with initial submittal.
- Weekend and float requirements are mandatory.
- Pending licenses accepted only if obtained prior to start date.
- Facility enforces strict license renewal verification; failure to renew license timely may result in suspension or termination.
This position offers an opportunity for experienced Registered Nurses seeking a travel contract in a Medical Surgical float role with night shifts and a supportive team environment.
