Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)

Location: Macomb, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days
Hours per Week: 40

Job Summary

• Diagnose disorders and provide therapy for clients/patients with communication and/or swallowing disorders.
• Assess speech, language, and swallowing skills considering educational, medical, social, and psychological factors.
• Plan and conduct habilitative or rehabilitative treatment programs to improve communicative efficiency in children or adults.
• Provide consultation services to educational, medical, and other professional health groups.
• Services delivered in inpatient and outpatient settings, nursing homes, skilled nursing facility, home health care, and hospice.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Speech Language Pathologist license in Illinois
• BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification
• Master's Degree in Speech Pathology or Communicative Disorders
• Experience working with Pediatric patients

Preferred Experience & Skills

• Experience with video fluoroscopy and pediatric patients is specifically required.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytic skills to diagnose and develop rehabilitation plans.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients to motivate cooperation and effort in therapy.
• Ability to work with diverse patient populations, including those with developmental, cultural, or medical complexities.

Additional Information

• Must complete departmental orientation, ongoing hospital-wide computerized learning, in-services, and competency evaluations.
• Work schedule may include 5-8 hour or 4-10 hour shifts, or a mixture of both.
