Description
Registered Nurse (RN) - 6N Overflow
Location: Wheeling, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Details
- Unit size: 30 beds
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6 to 1:7 (RN must be comfortable with up to 1:7)
- Patient types: CHF, COPD, cellulitis, rule outs, cholecystitis, appendicitis, pneumonia, urosepsis, acute kidney injury (AKI)
- Charge nurse: One charge RN on the floor with assignment
- Nurse aides: Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) available on unit
- Respiratory equipment: No ventilators; intermittent BiPAP available
- Telemetry: Yes, monitored remotely by techs
- Drip titration: RNs required to titrate heparin drips based on aPTT results
Schedule
- Shift: 12-hour day/night rotation
- Hours per week: 36
- Weekends and holidays: Scheduled as needed, typically half of the weekends
- Floating: Required as needed based on census; external travelers float first
- Call/standby: None
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Valid RN license in West Virginia
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in West Virginia
- Med Surg / Telemetry experience (minimum 2 years)
- Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
