Description
Registered Nurse - Surgery (Travel)
Location: New Braunfels, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Provide independent nursing care in a surgical setting, managing routine and complex patient needs. Care for patients across multiple service lines including general surgery, urology, gynecology, vascular, orthopedics, neurology, robotics (XI, DV5, ION), reconstructive plastics, podiatry, and some cardiovascular cases. Minimal pediatric patients. GI care is important as there is no dedicated GI team; OR staff cover GI cases on call and during the week.
Work Schedule
- Full-time, 5 days per week, 8-hour shifts
- Multiple shifts available:
- 06:30 AM – 03:00 PM (2 openings)
- 11:00 AM – 07:30 PM (1 opening)
- 02:00 PM – 10:30 PM (1 opening)
- Requests for special days off must be submitted and approved prior to hire
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience, with OR experience within the last year required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care consistent with ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation
- Manage complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
- Administer medications and treatments per protocol, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness
- Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
- Assess patient and caregiver learning needs and provide education accordingly
- Make appropriate assignments and delegate tasks to other care providers to manage clinical situations
- Demonstrate leadership consistent with organizational competencies (Leader of Self, Others, or Leaders)

- Minimal pediatrics
- General surgery, urology, gynecology, vascular, orthopedics, neurology
- Robotics including XI, DV5, and ION systems
- Reconstructive plastics, podiatry
- Cardiovascular cases a plus but not required
- GI cases covered by OR staff due to lack of dedicated GI team
This is a travel nursing opportunity requiring a commitment of approximately 13 weeks.
