Description
Registered Nurse - Pre Op (Travel Assignment)
Location: Wichita, Kansas
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Unit Information
- Unit: Pre-Op Holding / Ambulatory Surgery Unit (ASU)
- Beds: 9 Pre-Op beds, 5 Phase 2 recovery beds
- Staff: 8 full-time RNs (2 open positions), 2 part-time RNs, 4 PRN RNs, 1 unit HUC
- Shift Coverage: Day shift only (5 AM - 5 PM), no night shift
- Patient Ratio: 1 RN to 3 patients
- Equipment: Pyxis medication system, GE MACVU EKG machine, Doppler, patient scale, bladder scanner
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Meditech
Typical Procedures
- Phase 2 recovery for Urology, Gynecology, and other same-day surgery (SDS) patients
- Pre-Op care for Surgery, Endoscopy, Cath Lab, Electrophysiology (EP), CT patients
- Outpatient infusions, outpatient EKGs, nerve blocks, blood transfusions
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kansas
- Minimum 2 years of preoperative nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Some pre-op experience or ability to assist pre-op staff

- 30-minute response time required for on-call from facility location
