Description
Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel Position
Location: Cortez, Colorado
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: Day Shift, 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Hours per Week: 36
Job Summary
Provide nursing care to patients in Labor and Delivery with willingness to train in Nursery and Recovery areas. Deliver safe, efficient, and courteous care using appropriate nursing procedures. Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development, disease processes, and clinical assessment to meet patient needs. Utilize technology and evidence-based practices to improve health outcomes.
Unit-Specific Duties
- Labor, Delivery, and Family Birthing Care
- Nursery and Recovery training provided
- Intensive Care Unit (ICU) experience preferred
- Procedural Sedation
- Antepartum, Intrapartum, and Postpartum Care including complications
- Fetal and Advanced Cardiac Monitoring (NST, CVP, A-line)
- Rapid Sequence Intubation
- Use of Rapid Infuser, Epidural, Critical Drips, Induction
- Trauma Alert response
- Newborn Care from delivery to discharge
- Ventilator/BiPAP management
- Hearing Screening, Infant Security, EMTALA compliance
- CCHD Screening and Phototherapy
- Pre-term infant care
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 1 year of recent Postpartum nursing experience within the last year
- Labor and Delivery experience
- Clinic experience
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
Skills and Abilities
- Effective verbal and written communication in English
- Strong customer service and active listening skills
- Basic computer proficiency and strong organizational skills
- Ability to supervise non-professional staff and act as a resource
- Knowledge of telemetry monitoring and basic arrhythmia interpretation
- Ability to assist physicians with procedures and patient care
- Ability to document nursing care accurately and timely using EMAR and other technologies
- Flexibility with working hours and shifts to meet staffing needs
- Commitment to patient confidentiality and compliance with policies and procedures
- Ability to care for patients from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds
Physical and Work Environment Demands
- Exposure to infectious waste, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and occasional foul odors
- Moderate to loud noise levels; possible interactions with aggressive patients or visitors
- Exposure to environmental conditions such as heat, cold, precipitation, and wind
- Physical demands include lifting up to 100 lbs occasionally, frequent kneeling, crouching, reaching, and repetitive motion
- Requires good vision (including color vision) and hearing for detailed communication and patient care tasks
- Reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities
Additional Information
- Adherence to dress code and professional appearance required
- Participation in ongoing education, departmental meetings, and resuscitation drills expected
- Responsible for maintaining up-to-date knowledge of hospital policies and nursing standards
- Expected to contribute positively as a team member and support peers and students
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience in nursing specialty (Labor and Delivery/ICU preferred)
- Prior travel experience is not required
