Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Room
Location: Lafayette, Louisiana
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Job Summary
Seeking an experienced RN for the Emergency Room specialty. This role requires delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced emergency setting.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Louisiana
- Minimum 4 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience
- Emergency Department experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- PALS certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Onboarding and Compliance Requirements
Professional Documentation:
- Resume/Profile submission required.
- Nursing license verification and Nursys verification within 30 days of start.
- Criminal background check completed within 30 days prior to start, including SSN address trace, county and national criminal searches, education and employment verification (last 5 years), and driving record.
- HRIS form submission required.
- Forward-facing badge photo (JPEG format) required before start.
Skills and Competency Testing:
- Unit-specific skills checklist updated within one year prior to start.
- Competency exams with a passing score of 80% or higher within one year prior to start.
- Core competencies including HIPAA, Safety Orientation, Infection Control, and others, updated annually with a passing score of 80% or higher.
- Annual education packet completion required.
Health and Immunization Requirements:
- COVID-19 vaccine or exemption accepted (optional).
- MMR: Proof of 2 immunizations, positive titer, or declination with signed statement.
- Hepatitis B: Proof of 3 immunizations, positive titer, or declination with required signatures.
- Varicella: Proof of 2 immunizations, positive titer, or declination with signed statement.
- Tdap: Proof of vaccination within past 10 years or declination with required signatures.
- Influenza vaccine (optional, with medical/religious exemptions accepted during flu season).
- TB Test: Negative QuantiFERON blood test within one year prior or 2-step skin test; if positive, documentation of treatment or clearance required.
- Annual TB questionnaire within 6 months of start; if positive, evaluation and treatment proof required.
- Fit Test for N95 masks (3M 1860, 1860s, or 1870+) completed within one year prior to start and updated annually.
- Health statement signed within one year prior confirming ability to work without restrictions.
- Eye exam including Ishihara Color Test and Snellen Vision test within one year prior to start.
Drug Screening:
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start, including marijuana/THC, PCP, amphetamines, opiates, cocaine, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, methadone, propoxyphene, and methaqualone. Positive marijuana/THC results reviewed case-by-case.
Additional Notes
- All licensure and certifications must be current and valid for the state of Louisiana.
- Compliance with all onboarding requirements is mandatory prior to start date.
- This position involves working a 12-hour day shift in an emergency room setting.
