Registered Nurse (RN) – Med Surg/Telemetry (Nights)

Job Description

• Coordinate total nursing care for patients, including patient and family teaching.
• Provide leadership and collaborate with ancillary nursing and patient care teams to maintain professional nursing standards.
• May be asked to work as a backup Charge Nurse.
• Float between Acute Rehab, Med Surg, and any unit within scope of practice.
• Nurse to patient ratio: 1 to 4/5.
• Average daily patient census: 22.
• Electronic Medical Record system used: Cerner.
• Orientation: 8 hours non-billable.
• Call-back, holiday, and overtime multipliers apply.

Contract Length

• 13 weeks.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years recent experience in Medical-Surgical and Rehabilitation nursing.
• Charge RN experience required.
• Prior travel experience of at least 3 months required.
• Vermont RN license or Compact RN license required.
• Active American Heart Association BLS certification required.
• Active American Heart Association ACLS certification required.
• Skills checklist for Medical Surgical nursing current within 1 year required.
• At least one supervisory-signed reference from the past two years required.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred but not required.

Additional Requirements and Notes

• Traveler must have their own vehicle due to lack of public transportation in the community.
• Local travelers residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible.
• Requested time off (RTO) must be submitted and approved at the time of application; no scheduling requests or RTO will be approved after offer.
• No more than 5 days of RTO will be accepted during the assignment.
• Block scheduling requests will not be considered.
• 48-hour guarantee is not available for this assignment.
• Strict attendance policy: after 3 call-offs, contract may be terminated. Call-offs must be communicated to the unit supervisor at least 1.5 hours in advance.

Work Environment

• Small community hospital with 25 inpatient medical-surgical beds and a 10-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit.
• Facility includes a therapeutic pool and physical therapy department, offering acute care, transitional care, and hospice services.
• Located in a historic town with access to outdoor recreation and within a 3-hour drive to major cities.
