Operating Room Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Grants, New Mexico


Position Overview

  • Role: Operating Room Registered Nurse with both OR Circulator and PACU experience preferred
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Location: Grants, New Mexico
  • Shift: Day shift, Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM (5x8 hours)
  • Call Schedule: On-call every 3rd day and every 3rd weekend (Saturday, Sunday, Monday)
  • Average OR Cases per Day: 6-8 cases
  • Patient to Provider Ratio: 1:1
  • Case Mix:
    • 96% GI Endoscopy and EGD
    • 2-4 Orthopedic surgeries
    • 1-3 General surgeries
    • 2-3 Podiatry
    • 2-3 OB/GYN

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
  • Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) experience
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
  • Proficiency with Cerner electronic health record system

Contract Details

  • Length: 13 weeks
  • Work Hours: 40 hours per week

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID and valid driver’s license must be carried during work hours
  • Social Security number verification (last 4 digits required)
  • Proof of E-Verify or attestation
  • Background checks including:
    • 7-year criminal history (all locations lived/worked)
    • Social Security trace
    • Nationwide and county checks
    • Sex offender registry search
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG exclusions screening
  • Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet physical demands
  • Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot) or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Immunizations or titers for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (series, titer, or declination)
    • Varicella
  • Drug screening: 9-panel drug test within 30 days prior to start (instant acceptable)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or documented declination during flu season (October–April)
  • COVID-19 medical or religious exemption accepted with facility form
  • Proof of 2 clinical references within the last 9 months (hospital evaluations accepted)
  • Completion of skills checklist and competency exams as applicable
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgement and HIPAA compliance documentation

Additional Notes

  • The role requires call coverage every third day and every third weekend, including Saturday through Monday.
  • The environment is fast-paced with a high volume of GI endoscopy cases.
  • Candidates should be prepared for a positive team environment and demonstrate flexibility with scheduling.
