Description
Physical Therapist - Acute Care Hospital (Travel/Contract)
Location: Kodiak, Alaska
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Start Date: ASAP
- Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (8:30 AM - 5:00 PM)
- Hours: 40 hours per week, guaranteed 72 hours per 2 weeks (may be called off for one 8-hour shift every 2 weeks)
- Weekend Requirement: Yes
- On-call: No
- Floating: Yes, within scope to cover outpatient, acute care, and some skilled nursing facility (SNF) patients
- Block Scheduling: Accommodated
- Locals: Not accepted (candidate’s permanent address must be at least 50 miles from facility)
- Pending License: Not accepted
Facility Information
- Critical Access Hospital with Level IV Trauma designation
- Acute Care Medical Center, Long Term Care Facility, and Outpatient services
- Total staffed beds: 46 Acute Care, 22 Long Term Care
- Patient population includes all ages and diagnoses
- Therapy department covers outpatient, inpatient, SNF, wound care, lymphedema, pelvic floor, and pediatric specialties
- Charting system: Epic
- Dress code: Any scrub color or business casual
- Free parking
Housing and Transportation
- Housing provided: typically 1-bedroom apartments, available no earlier than 72 hours before contract start and must be vacated within 24 hours after contract end
- Pets are not allowed
- Housing usually accommodates only the traveler; additional family members require approval
- Housing must be cleaned upon departure or cleaning fees apply
- Vehicle provided: facility-owned or rental car available for use no earlier than 72 hours before contract start and must be returned within 24 hours after contract end
- Only the traveler may operate the vehicle
- Traveler must provide valid driver’s license and proof of insurance, including rental car coverage
- Vehicle use limited to “around town” within a 30-mile radius; no off-road use
- Vehicle must be cleaned and returned with a full tank of gas
- Tire chains available at traveler’s expense
- Vehicle must be returned during time off and reissued upon return
Required Qualifications
- Valid Physical Therapist license in Alaska
- Minimum 1 year of Physical Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Additional Requirements
- Must complete annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via assigned LMS platform
- Must comply with facility float policy acknowledging possible float to other nearby facilities
- Passport-style badge photo with neutral background required
- Must provide government-issued photo ID and Social Security card as applicable
- Must comply with all state-specific background and licensing requirements for Alaska

- Candidate must be prepared to float within scope to multiple care settings including outpatient, acute care, and SNF
