Job Details

• Specialty: Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse
• Location: Winnemucca, Nevada
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Days (4 x 10-hour shifts, 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM)
• Hours per Week: 40
• Call Requirements:

  • One weeknight call per week (5:00 PM – 6:30 AM)
  • One weekend call per month (Friday 5:00 PM – Monday 6:30 AM)
  • Call on major holidays, rotating with core staff
  • Call response time: 20 minutes

Work Environment

• 2 Operating Rooms and 1 Procedure Room (endoscopy)
• Average cases per day vary from 0 to 12
• Opportunity to assist with supplies or float to other departments on low census days
• Common cases include General Surgery, Orthopedics (including total joints), Podiatry, Urology, OB (including C-sections), Gynecology, Pain Management, Cardiology (pacemakers, TEEs), and endoscopy
• Mostly adult cases with occasional pediatric orthopedic or appendectomy cases
• Scrubbing is not required for RNs
• Charge Nurse role exists but travelers will not fill this position
• Electronic Medical Record system: Cerner
• Floating to Preop and PACU required; rarely follow cases from OR to PACU within the same shift

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Nevada
• Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Orthopedics experience, including total joint procedures
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS

Orientation & Other Information

• Unit-specific orientation length varies from 3 days (for those strong in Preop and PACU) up to one week
• Scrub color and designated OR shoes provided by the hospital
• Housing: Candidates should research local housing options prior to submission; leads are available

This position offers a dynamic OR nursing experience with a variety of surgical cases and opportunities to float within perioperative departments.
