Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – BMT (Oncology / Mixed Acuity PCU and MS Unit)

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 16 weeks


Job Description

  • Work on a Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) unit specializing in oncology and mixed acuity medical-surgical/telemetry care.
  • Patient population includes diagnoses such as:
    • Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL)
    • Acute Myeloid Leukemia (Adult)
    • Amyloidosis
    • Aplastic Anemia
    • Chronic Leukemia (CLL, Myeloid)
    • Hodgkin's and Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma
    • Multiple Myeloma
    • Myelodysplastic and Myeloproliferative Disorders
  • Special procedures include:
    • Autologous, Syngeneic, and Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplants
    • CAR-T Therapy

Work Schedule

  • 12-hour shifts, either:
    • Rotating day/night shifts, or
    • Night shifts only (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
  • Shift assignments reviewed every 4 weeks but subject to staffing needs.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Medical-Surgical and inpatient hematology oncology. Hematology oncology experience strongly preferred.
  • Chemotherapy certification is required.
  • Proficient in telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias.
  • Skilled in:
    • Use of Rapid Response Teams
    • Feeding tube care and management
    • Blood product administration
    • Central and peripheral line care, including blood draws and sterile dressing changes
    • PICC line management
    • Nasal cannula administration
    • Chemotherapy administration
  • Experience with computerized charting, specifically EPIC system.

Required Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy Certification

Preferred Certifications

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio.
  • Minimum 1 year of Bone Marrow Transplant experience within the last year.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Experience in an inpatient setting.
  • Medical-Surgical and telemetry experience.
  • Hematology/Oncology nursing experience.
  • Proficient with Epic electronic health record system.

Additional Requirements

  • Two professional references required; at least one must be from a manager or formal leadership.
  • Employment application including education verification required.
  • Background checks and fingerprinting must be completed and cleared prior to start; pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending.
  • Candidates must comply with facility-specific policies and annual acknowledgments related to ethics, compliance, and safety.
