Description
Registered Nurse – Emergency Department
Location: Hickory, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- Work in a 32-bed Emergency Department within a 355-bed hospital.
- Patient population ranges from birth to death.
- Fast-paced environment requiring critical care thinking and stamina.
- Patient ratios typically 1:4 or 1:5.
- Use of critical care equipment and Cerner EHR system.
- Weekend hours rotate every other weekend.
- Call requirements vary depending on census.
- Weekly guaranteed hours: 36.
- Float to other areas as needed based on competencies.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Certifications required: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
Work Environment & Culture
- Energetic and knowledgeable personality fit preferred.
- Dress code: scrubs of any color allowed; hoodies and inappropriate t-shirts are not acceptable.
Additional Information
- The Emergency Department is part of a larger medical center with specialized centers including Brain, Cancer, Heart, Lung, Orthopedics, Surgical Weight Loss, Women’s Center, and Level 3 NICU.
- The ED receives all trauma cases but does not have a designated trauma level.
Note: Candidates must be located 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify for this travel position.
