Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - MS/Telemetry

Position Details

  • Specialty: Medical-Surgical / Telemetry (MS/Tele) Registered Nurse
  • Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
  • Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 5-6 patients
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • On-call: Not required
  • Floating: Required to float within scope to similar units or sister facilities as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in South Carolina
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical / Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by American Heart Association

Orientation and Training

  • Facility-specific orientation modules must be completed prior to start (approx. 4-6 hours)
  • Clear, passport-style badge photo required before start
  • Must complete facility’s First Day Instructions and OurDay modules before orientation; failure to complete will result in being sent home

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands
  • Immunizations and titers required or proof of immunity for:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination form)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (positive titer or vaccination series)
    • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
  • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start or documented history with chest x-ray
  • Annual TB questionnaire completion required
  • 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31)
  • Respirator medical clearance required annually for patient-facing staff

Background and Verification

  • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including:
    • SSN trace, national and state criminal checks, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, international searches if applicable
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
  • Education verification required; diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder if needed
  • NURSYS license verification required for all RNs
  • Work history verification of last 3 clinical employers required
  • References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations

Additional Requirements

  • Color blindness testing required prior to start
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam required
  • Badge photo must be submitted by Wednesday end of day prior to start
  • Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks; guaranteed hours are not absolute
  • Local candidates considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June-November)

Notes

  • Approval for block scheduling can be requested but is not guaranteed
  • Floating between units is expected within scope of practice
  • Radiation badge required only if assigned to specific departments (not applicable for this role)
  • IV certification not required for this RN role
  • Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers accepted
