    Description

    Registered Nurse (L&D/Postpartum/Mother Baby) - Travel Assignment

    Location: Canon City, Colorado
    Contract Length: 13 weeks
    Shift: Nights (7 PM - 7 AM)
    Hours per Week: 36 hours (12-hour shifts)


    Job Description

    • Work in Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Mother Baby units.
    • Night shift assignment.
    • Unit includes 4 L&D beds, 4 postpartum beds, 1 triage bed, and OR suites for C-sections.
    • Approximately 220 births per year.
    • Common patient diagnoses include high BMI, diabetes mellitus, and substance use/abuse.
    • RNs are required to titrate drips such as Pitocin, Magnesium, Insulin, and D10.
    • No in-house OB/Neonatologist or anesthesia coverage 24/7.
    • Respiratory equipment includes bubble CPAP.
    • No tele/monitor techs; RNs read their own fetal monitoring strips (OBIX system).
    • Charge nurse takes patient assignments; house supervisor does not.
    • No nurse aides or surgical techs on the unit.
    • Floating may be required within a defined zone if needed.
    • Dress code: blue scrubs provided.
    • Unit-specific orientation required (1-2 shifts).

    Scheduling & Requirements

    • Self-scheduling for day and night shifts; manager balances schedules.
    • Weekend requirement: 3 weekends in a 6-week schedule.
    • Holiday schedule is rotating and assigned annually.
    • Call/standby rotation based on census.
    • Orientation week requires clinicians to be in-state, even if some modules are remote.
    • Call requirement: approximately 18 hours of call per 6 weeks.
    • First to float to postpartum when needed.

    Required Certifications

    • ACLS (American Heart Association)
    • BLS (American Heart Association)
    • AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
    • STABLE Certification

    Required Experience & Skills

    • Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) experience required.
    • Experience with titrating drips on L&D unit.
    • Familiarity with AWHONN guidelines for nurse-to-patient ratios preferred.

    Additional Notes

    • Must submit a valid driver’s license within a 60-mile radius.
    • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
    • Minimum staffing on the unit is 2 RNs per shift, sometimes 3.
    • No unit manager involvement in the hiring process; interview with clinical team only.

    License Requirement

    • Current and valid RN license for Colorado.
