Description
Registered Respiratory Therapist
Location: Florence, South Carolina
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (8 weeks)
Shift: 07:00 AM – 07:30 PM
Job Description
- Provide direct patient care and respiratory therapy procedures throughout the facility.
- Perform procedures according to established policies and organize workload to ensure timely therapy completion.
- Participate in respiratory care educational activities and departmental meetings.
- Document and maintain patient records, charts, and reports accurately and promptly.
- Respond to Code Blue and Rapid Response alerts in a timely manner.
- Use clinical judgment and assessment skills to monitor patient care and communicate with other caregivers.
- Evaluate patient care and make recommendations as needed.
- Special procedures for those specially trained include Pulmonary Functions, Methacholine Challenges, Hyperbaric Medicine, NICU care, PICU care, and Asthma Education.
- Maintain a professional image and excellent customer relations with patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in South Carolina
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist, including experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Completion of a clinical skills checklist prior to start, updated annually
- Must provide a valid driver's license/state ID
- Social Security Card copy required
- Criminal background check within 60 days of start, covering last 7 years, including multiple federal and state databases
- Employment verification for the past 5 years
- 10-panel drug screen completed within 30 days of start (rapid drug screen not accepted)
- Proof of immunizations or titers with lab reports (no declinations accepted) for:
- MMR (2 immunizations or titer)
- Hepatitis B (3 immunizations or titer)
- Varicella (2 immunizations or titer)
- Tuberculosis screening:
- 2-step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) within required timeframes, or annual negative PPD if 2-step not done within past year
- Positive PPD requires negative chest X-ray within 90 days of start
- Fit test for respirator mask (optional but recommended, to be completed within a year of start)
- Influenza vaccine required September through April (medical/religious exemptions considered with documentation)
Additional Information
- Prior travel experience is not specified as required.
- Special training in hyperbaric medicine and pediatric/neonatal respiratory care is a plus but not mandatory.
- This is a long-term assignment expected to last approximately 8 weeks.
