Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Lake Charles, Louisiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts (6:30 AM – 3:00 PM) with weekend and weekday call

Job Summary

• Focus areas include Orthopedics, DaVinci (General Surgery), and Trauma cases

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Louisiana
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including OR experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Trauma experience

Additional Preferred Certifications (Not Required)

• Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) – preferred for OR RNs
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – required for certain specialties but not mandatory for this role
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure (NRP), Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM), Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) – not required for this position

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years, updated annually
• Drug screening: 9-panel drug test within the last 12 months (instant acceptable)
• Physical exam: Initial and annual updates confirming ability to meet physical demands
• Immunizations and health screenings:

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 30 days of start date
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (titer or 2 vaccines)
  • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
  • Varicella (titer or 2 vaccines)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
  • COVID-19 vaccination required with facility-specific exemption process

Competency and Facility Requirements

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required
• Competency Exam required for all clinical candidates
• Facility-specific documents and agreements must be completed prior to start, including:

  • Information Security and Confidentiality Agreement
  • PHI Pledge of Confidentiality
  • Clinical On-boarding Exam
  • New Hire and Annual Education review
  • TB Questionnaire

Summary

This is a 13-week travel contract for an experienced OR Registered Nurse with a focus on Orthopedics, DaVinci general surgery, and trauma. The role requires a Louisiana RN license or Compact license, BLS certification, and at least 2 years of RN experience (5 preferred). Prior travel experience is requested. Candidates must comply with comprehensive background checks, health screenings, immunizations, and facility-specific onboarding requirements. The shift is a standard day schedule with call responsibilities on weekends and weekdays.
