Description
Registered Nurse - Operating Room (Travel Assignment)
Location: Anchorage, Alaska
Assignment Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Three 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM), weekends if possible
Hours per Week: 36
Job Description
- Work in the Operating Room with a focus on orthopedic, total joint, neuro, and robotic cases.
- Typical procedures include total joints, multi-level spine fusions, and various Xi robotic surgeries (GYN, colorectal, general surgery).
- Minimal ENT, dental, eye, or plastic surgery cases.
- Patient ratio is 1:1.
- Call requirement: Approximately 5-6 weekday call shifts and 1 weekend call shift every 4 weeks (about 15 call shifts per month, varying monthly).
- Act as patient advocate while serving as circulator and resource for the sterile field.
- Scrubs are provided by the facility.
Unit Information
- 11 Operating Rooms on the 2nd floor of the main hospital building.
- Day shift staffing: ~8 RNs, 8 scrub techs, 5 surgical support techs.
- Night shift staffing: 1 charge RN and 1 scrub tech in-house with call team backup.
- Electronic Medical Record system: Epic.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year.
- Experience in orthopedics, total joints, neuro, and robotics.
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as circulator.
- Experience as scrub nurse.
- CNOR certification.

Additional Notes
- Weekend shifts and on-call duties are required.
- Call shifts average 5-6 weekdays and 1 weekend every 4 weeks.
- Floating is not required for this position.
