Description
Registered Nurse (LDRP)
Location: Dickinson, North Dakota
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights
Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
Scheduling: Block scheduling
Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend
Holiday Requirement: As needed, depending on availability
Orientation: 3 shifts (12 hours each) of unit-specific orientation
Unit Details
- Labor & Delivery/Postpartum unit with 4 L&D beds and 7 postpartum beds
- Patient population: Mothers >35 weeks in labor and mother/baby couplets
- Neonatal equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow vents (RNs troubleshoot only)
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring system: OB Trace Vue
- Surgery team manages C-sections; nurses circulate for the baby
- Floating: May float to Medical-Surgical or Emergency Department for patient support (mostly 1:1 care)
- Scrubs provided
Patient Care & Responsibilities
- Follow AWHONN guidelines for nurse-to-patient ratios:
- Labor: 1:1 to 1:2
- Postpartum: 1:2 to 1:3
- RNs are required to titrate drips including Magnesium, Oxytocin, LR, Zofran, and postpartum medications such as prenatal vitamins, Ibuprofen, Acetaminophen, Percocet, Toradol
- Charge nurse present on each shift and takes an assignment
Required Certifications & Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in specialty
- Certifications required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Must pass fit testing for respiratory protection if applicable (facial hair may disqualify due to fit test failure)
Additional Information
- No clinical involvement outside of nursing scope
- Rural hospital setting with limited services; NICU is over 1 hour away
- Successful nurses demonstrate teamwork, provider consistency, knowledge, independence, and good communication
- Candidates must comply with a 50-mile radius rule and cannot be currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with certain affiliated health systems
- Return to office (RTO) required within 7 days of contract start; no additional RTO approvals after submission
This position offers a focused LDRP nursing role in a rural hospital environment with a supportive team and defined patient care responsibilities.
