Description
Respiratory Therapist II
Location: Raleigh, North Carolina
Employment Type: Clinical-Allied
Shift: Days (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Provide advanced respiratory care including airway management, mechanical ventilator management, oxygen and aerosol therapy, and respiratory procedures to assess, prevent, stabilize, or remedy respiratory dysfunction.
- Perform standard respiratory care such as aerosol medication delivery, bedside pulmonary function testing, breathing exercises, arterial punctures, tracheostomy care and changes, endotracheal intubations and extubations.
- May perform pulmonary function testing and advanced procedures including UAC, UVC, IV and intraosseous insertion, chest tube insertion, needle decompression, arterial blood gases (ABGs), and blood glucose monitoring as needed.
- May manage extracorporeal circulation for cardiac and respiratory support (ECMO) when applicable.
- May be required to be on-call during days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Independently functions with minimal supervision and serves as a resource to other staff.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist, including experience within the last year
- Experience working with Neonate, Infant, and Adult patients
- Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- Certification in ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- Certification in NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Certification in PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- Certification in CPFT (Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system.
- Experience with SERVO U ventilators.
Additional Information
- Work schedule consists of 3 twelve-hour day shifts per week.
- Must be NICU capable with adult experience.
- May be involved in pediatric and neonatal patient transport per protocol.
This position requires advanced respiratory therapy skills, flexibility for on-call duties, and the ability to work independently while serving as a resource to others.
