Description
Registered Nurse (Medical/Surgical/Telemetry) - Nights
Location: West Burlington, Iowa
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (Night Shift)
Estimated Weekly Hours: 36 hours, with possible overtime
Job Overview
- Provide nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation.
- Care for patient populations including Geriatric, Medical/Surgical, Adult, and Telemetry.
- Positions available on Medical Surgical and Telemetry units.
- Must self-study telemetry strips upon acceptance; a basic dysrhythmia test will be administered during the first week and must be passed to work on the Telemetry/Med Surg unit.
- May be required to float occasionally to nearby campuses.
- Not part of regular call rotation but may be placed on call during low census periods; if called in, must respond and arrive onsite within one hour.
- EPIC Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience required.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa.
- Minimum of 1 year of Medical/Surgical nursing experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Experience with EPIC Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
Health and Compliance Requirements
- COVID-19 vaccine (declination accepted).
- Influenza vaccine recommended during flu season (Sept 1 – March 31), with facility declination accepted.
- MMR: 2 vaccines or positive titer; if low/equivocal, 1 booster or declination accepted.
- Hepatitis B: 2 vaccines or positive titer; if low/equivocal, 1 booster or declination accepted.
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; if low/equivocal, 1 booster or declination accepted.
- Tdap valid within 10 years; declinations accepted.
- Negative TB test within past year (TSPOT or QuantiFERON IGG). If history of positive TB test, must provide documentation including chest x-ray and questionnaire.
- Fit test completed prior to start (acceptable masks: Moldex 1510, 3M 1860s, 3M 1860, Moldex 1513, 3M 1870+ Respirator).
- Health statement/physician statement within last 12 months.
- Drug screen within 30 days of start (9-panel, excludes THC; instant accepted if lab results unavailable).
- Color vision screening.
Background and Documentation
- Background check within 30 days of start including SS trace and 7-year county search.
- Adult and Child Abuse clearance per state requirements.
- Education verification through third party; diploma/transcripts may be required if verification fails.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start.
- References: 2 professional references required, including 1 supervisor reference.
- Resume or professional profile required.
- I-9 attestation on agency letterhead.
- Skills checklist completed within last 12 months.
- Name change documents optional.
- Contract employee data sheet.
- OFAC and NSO checks within 30 days of start (may be combined with background check).
- Pre-orientation computer-based learning (CBL) acknowledgment form.
- Epic registration acknowledgment form after completing Epic registration.
- Evergreen link acknowledgment form within 48 hours of offer acceptance.
- OSHA questionnaire completed by candidate.

- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.

- Floating to other nearby campuses may be required occasionally.
This position is ideal for experienced RNs comfortable with Medical/Surgical and Telemetry patient care, who have strong telemetry knowledge or are willing to quickly gain competency, and who have experience with EPIC EMR systems. Night shift availability and flexibility to float and respond to call-ins are important.
