Occupational Therapist - Rehabilitation Therapy
Location: Delta, Colorado
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Monday-Friday
Hours per Week: 40
Job Summary
Provide occupational therapy services to help patients develop, regain, or improve physical and mental functioning. Implement treatment plans in consultation with physicians or by prescription, focusing on activities of daily living, vocational skills, and sensorimotor and social activities. Supervise aides and assistants, promote patient independence, and prepare patients for return to employment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and interpret evaluations and test results to determine treatment plans.
- Implement therapy programs including manual arts, functional and vocational skills, and recreational activities.
- Supervise rehabilitation aides and technicians.
- Evaluate patient progress and adjust therapy plans accordingly.
- Participate in discharge planning and coordinate with healthcare team members.
- Design and instruct home exercise programs and recommend assistive equipment.
- Document patient care and maintain confidentiality.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and infection-controlled work environment.
- Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of therapy equipment.
- Attend educational workshops and participate in professional development.
- Provide in-service training to occupational therapy staff.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal and certification requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Occupational Therapist license in Colorado
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as an Occupational Therapist, including experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Physical Demands
- Frequent walking, bending, stooping, and squatting.
- Full range of motion in all major joints required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds frequently.
- Ability to sit for up to 2 hours at a time.
- Manual dexterity to operate equipment and computers.
- Work indoors in well-lit, ventilated areas.
- Potential exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials.
- Risk of injury from moving patients and heavy equipment.
Work Environment & Safety
- Actively promote and observe safety and security procedures.
- Proper use of equipment and materials required.
Supervision
- Reports to Rehabilitation Services Director.
- Works closely with Rehabilitation Services Manager and clinical departments.
- Supervises rehabilitation aides.
