Description
Occupational Therapist
Location: Tuba City, Arizona
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Provide quality occupational therapy services primarily to a Native American population, addressing developmental, cognitive, mental, emotional, and physical disabilities. Responsibilities include:
- Assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results for patients from birth through geriatric age.
- Developing and implementing occupational therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians or by prescription.
- Setting realistic treatment goals based on patient abilities, needs, and diagnoses.
- Documenting patient care and progress in electronic health records (EHR).
- Adjusting therapy plans as needed to promote maximum patient independence.
- Managing the Occupational Therapy program for both inpatient and outpatient services (weekend services not currently available).
- Providing specialty services such as custom orthoses, sensory integration, cognitive treatment, activities of daily living, and assistive technology evaluations.
- Participating in specialty clinics including spinal cord, functional, geriatric, and prosthetic/orthotic supply programs.
- Assisting with quality improvement, risk management, and safety initiatives within the occupational therapy service.
- Providing training and in-services for students and staff.
- Collaborating with the rehabilitation team and other healthcare professionals.
- Maintaining Medical Staff Credentialing Core Privileges.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Occupational Therapist license in Arizona
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist, including experience within the last year
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an ACOTE-accredited program
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Strong orthopedic skills
Work Schedule
- Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- No weekend shifts currently available
Additional Information
- Orientation occurs every 2 weeks.
- COVID and flu vaccination exemptions may be accepted upon submission of a declination form.
- Housing application must be submitted at least 2 weeks prior to start date.
Population Served
- Predominantly Native American patients from Navajo, Hopi, and Southern Paiute tribes.
- Patient age range: birth through geriatric.

- Semi-desert region on the Colorado Plateau with culturally diverse community.
- Services include inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation within a 73-bed facility.
