Description
Mammographer - Contract Position in Alaska
Job Summary
- Perform imaging examinations on patients of all ages (newborn through geriatric) with a focus on mammography and diagnostic imaging.
- Ensure quality and continuity of patient care while contributing to efficient department operations.
- Prepare patients for procedures, provide instructions, and minimize anxiety.
- Evaluate images for technical quality and perform quality assurance/quality control duties.
- Apply radiation protection principles to minimize exposure.
- Assist radiologists or medical providers during procedures and apply aseptic techniques as needed.
- Maintain patient records with confidentiality and participate in departmental quality improvement.
- Provide patient education and advocate for routine breast cancer screening.
- Participate in orientation and training of new employees and other healthcare professionals.
- Perform clerical duties and fill in for other imaging staff as needed.
Work Schedule
- Day shift
- 32 hours per week
- Contract length: 13 weeks
Required Qualifications
- Mammography Technologist with at least 2 years of experience, including experience within the last year
- Current registration with ARRT (R)(M)
- Current BLS certification
- Foundational training in digital mammography and tomosynthesis
Additional Information
- Must demonstrate competency and proficiency in utilizing all required diagnostic imaging equipment.
- Ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with other staff members.
- Maintain certification through continuing education and stay updated on changes in the imaging field.
- No prior travel experience required.
