Job Opportunity: RNFA (Registered Nurse First Assistant) - Travel/Contract
Location: Taos, New Mexico
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (9:00 AM - 5:30 PM)
Hours per Week: 40 hours
Job Description
- Travel RNFA position requiring strong orthopedic experience.
- Robotic surgery experience is required.
- Responsibilities include both 1st assist and circulator duties; call will be for 1st assist.
- C-section experience is a plus.
- Work schedule options include 5 eight-hour shifts or 4 ten-hour shifts (optional: 6:30 AM - 4:30 PM).
- 75-mile radius requirement for travel.
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in New Mexico.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New Mexico.
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Minimum of 1 year of First Assist experience, with experience within the last year.
- Strong orthopedic surgical experience.
- Experience with robotic surgery.
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association.
- PALS certification.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID must be carried during hours of service.
- Proof of E-Verify or attestation required.
- Background check: 7-year criminal history check within one year of start, updated annually, covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals/extensions.
- Physical exam within 12 months of start, attesting ability to meet physical demands.
- Fit testing to be completed onsite during orientation.
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- TDAP within past 10 years (declination only with valid medical reason).
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually.
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: proof of 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters required for low titers.
- Hepatitis B vaccine series and positive titer required (declination accepted with positive titer and informed risk).
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters required for low titers.
- Seasonal flu vaccine or facility-specific declination during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); unvaccinated must wear a mask.
- COVID vaccine series or facility-specific declination required.
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (instant drug screen not acceptable).
- Professional photograph required prior to arrival for badge issuance.
- Completion of facility-specific orientation, safety manual acknowledgment, and core competency exams (Core Parts I, II, III) with a passing score of at least 80%.
- Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations.
- Complete employment application/resume with 7-year work history including locations, gaps, and end dates in MM/YYYY format.

- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
- Orientation and competency exams are mandatory before start.
- Candidates must comply with all facility-specific policies, including code of conduct, confidentiality agreements, and mandatory education.
- Masking required during flu season if declining flu vaccine.
