Job Opportunity: Oncology Chemo Certified Registered Nurse
Location: Matthews, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Day shift, 8 hours per day (7:45 AM – 5:15 PM), 5 days a week
- Hours per Week: 40 hours
- Patient Population: Adults (18+) with Hematology & Medical Oncology diagnoses
- Unit: 10 infusion chairs with social distancing measures
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5
- Call Requirement: None
- Weekend Requirement: No weekends
- Float Requirement: Ability to float between two nearby clinics (~14 miles apart)
- Pre-shift COVID Screening: Required
- Special Equipment: Ambulatory infusion pumps
- Unit Systems: Pyxis, Epic, Zoom, Microsoft Teams
- Mixing: Pharmacy/mixing techs handle all chemotherapy mixing
- Orientation: 8 hours, varies by skill level; includes hospital orientation week one with daily classes
- Scrubs: Navy blue scrubs required (not provided)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of oncology nursing experience, with oncology experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Chemotherapy administration experience
- Central line experience
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks: Must be completed within 90 days prior to start, including local, federal, national criminal, sex offender, and education verification (highest degree specific to profession)
- Health Requirements:
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (or within 30 days if past positive TB)
- Fit testing for N95 mask or completion of PAPR training (not required for non-clinical)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray per protocol
- Required immunizations/titers: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (or facility-specific declination)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
- Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel, negative results required)
- Competency Exams: Medication/pharmacology competency and dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (must pass with 82% or higher)
- Facility-Specific Documents: Confidentiality agreement, education roster, tobacco-free campus acknowledgement, clinical education checklist, medication safety training, hospital policies acknowledgment, and others as required
- Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo on white background required immediately after signing contract for badge creation
- Corporate ID & I-Learn: Must set up corporate ID and complete required online training modules prior to start
Additional Notes
- RTO (Return to Office) Policy: No RTO allowed after booking; call-offs or additional RTO may result in cancellation
- References: Two professional references within three years required for travel and acute care positions
- Orientation: Must be available for all orientation classes during the first week
- Radiation Badge: Not applicable for this role (only required for certain tech and radiology roles)
This position offers a structured oncology nursing experience with a focus on chemotherapy administration in an outpatient infusion setting, suitable for both experienced oncology nurses and first-time travel nurses.
