Description
Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Travel Position - Reno, Nevada
Position Overview
- Role: Respiratory Therapist (Adults)
- Employment Type: Travel contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 3x12-hour shifts, rotating days of the week; schedule varies based on department needs and may include weekends, holidays, and some call shifts
- Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
- Call Requirements: To be discussed during interview
- Float Requirement: May be required to float within competency level
- Holiday and Additional Shifts: May be required to work major holidays and pick up one additional shift during the schedule period
- Cancellation Policy: Employer may call off shifts with 48 hours' notice for low census during the 13-week contract (full or partial shifts)
Facility Environment
- Extremely busy, fast-paced environment serving a 500-mile radius
- Level 2 trauma center with Stroke accreditation
- Approximately 800 inpatient beds and 80 ER beds
- Patient volume and pace comparable to a Level 1 trauma center
Job Responsibilities
- Perform respiratory therapy procedures per protocol and physician orders to improve cardiopulmonary conditions in patients ranging from newborn to geriatric
- Work primarily in critical care units, adult and pediatric general care, and possibly secondary care sites
- Accountable for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of respiratory care for Neonatal, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric patients and families
- Initiate or modify patient care plans under structured protocols
- Properly document all patient records and department logs
- Stay current with technological advances and clinical applications
- Provide a positive patient experience by connecting with patients, explaining procedures, and practicing service recovery when needed
- Direct patient care is a core component of this role
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Nevada
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
- Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
- BLS issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS certification
